The most basic cooking lesson that you have to learn is how to boil an egg. There is a right way a wrong way to do it and many people fail to make a soft boil or hard boiled egg to perfection. You need to have the right sized covered pot to loosely fit the eggs you are going to boil without them hitting each other during the boiling process. The pot has to have a tightly fitted lid so that the heat will remain inside.
The eggs must be at room temperature and be as fresh as possible. Place the eggs gently into the pot and cover with water. Place the lid and turn up the heat. For soft boiled eggs as soon as the water begins to boil, time it. For one minute, two minute, or a three minute soft boiled egg – take out the egg after the specified period of time with a slotted spoon. Place in egg cups with pointed sides down, tap gently the rounded top part with the back end of a teaspoon to crack it open and peel off enough egg shells from the top part to allow the spoon to enter. When the opening is large enough, add into the egg a pinch of salt, dive your spoon in, scoop out the soft boiled egg and enjoy.
For hard boiled eggs, repeat the same procedure for covering it up with water and turn up the heat until you have a rolling boil. When the water is rapidly boiling, turn off the heat completely, making sure that the pot is tightly covered. Time the cooking process and after twelve minutes, take the eggs out with a slotted spoon. Cool these eggs by immersing them in another bowl of water and peel by cracking the rounded end on a flat surface to open it.
There is another way for you to have perfectly boiled eggs that eliminates the need of using a timer and a slotted spoon. There is a functional egg steamer that you can use to cook the eggs for you without hardly any effort, except to place them in and take out the eggs when they are cooked. To use this unique kitchen gadget, you will add in the required amount of water, place the eggs into it, pierce the egg shell with the provided tool and cover it with the lid. Turn it on and it will time the cooking process automatically, to give you the soft boiled eggs that you want or the perfect hard boiled egg. When the timer goes off, your eggs are done. Serve in the same manner as stated above or enjoy making deviled eggs, egg salads, adding whole eggs into your main meals or bringing along a boiled egg for you to snack on.
