When a person or their pets have been sprayed by a skunk, there are a few things that you can do to effectively get rid of the smell. The main problem with being sprayed by a skunk is not limited to the odor, which can be smelled even a mile away. The chemicals that were released by the skunk may cause skin irritation and temporary blindness. The mixture released by the skunk, produced by their anal scent glands, smells like rotten eggs and burnt rubber and it is a highly offensive smell that can even prevent a bear from coming near. Being sprayed by a skunk is an emergency situation and you have to move fast before the chemicals create adverse effects for the person or the animal it was sprayed on.

The drawback of such formulas is that it cannot be used on the eyes, nose, or mouth of a person or animal.

When it comes to eliminating irritants, there has to be special attention given to the face. It cannot be treated with a chemical such as hydrogen peroxide. The irritating chemicals from the anal glands of the skunk have to be removed right away and simple soap and water will not work.  There is a range of products that may get take the smell of the skunk off people and animals safely and effectively. The products range from wipes, liquid, spray and are individually formulated to answer the needs of removing skunk odor from people, animals, and places. These products will take the odor of the skunk off and can be used right away during this emergency situations and you will no longer need to create a hydrogen peroxide and baking soda rinse.

You will be able to bathe a person or your pet with the liquid. For when you are out in the wild, you can keep the odor removing wipes or spray in your emergency kit and use it in case there is no access to bathing facilities. It would be a wise decision to keep a product that will take the chemicals of the skunk off in an emergency kit just in case a skunk decides to raise it’s tail release its stink.
