If you want to delete your Facebook account for any reason, there are a number of ways it can be done. The new Facebook profile may seem rather confusing to some people, but there is few ways to go about it. The first thing that you have to do, though, is to decide whether you would like to permanently delete your account or deactivate temporarily.

One way to go about deleting your account is to use the ‘Deactivate Account’ option. This will allow you to think things over before you finally delete your account or allow you to do a disappearing act. To do this, log in to Facebook, and click ‘Account’ on the upper right hand side of the ‘Home’ page and a drop down list will appear. Choose ‘Settings’ and it will bring you a ‘My Account’ page. At the bottom of the Setting tab are the words ‘Deactivate Account’. Click ‘deactivate’ and you will be profile will be gone from Facebook. What is great about using this option is that you can reactivate you account by simply logging in within 14 days. If you reactivate the account within the given time period, your profile will be retained exactly the way it was when you left it. If you do not reactivate your account, when the 2 weeks are up, your account will be permanently deleted.

To be able to permanently delete your account, log in and click ‘Account’ on the upper right hand side of the page. From the drop down list, choose the ‘Help Center’ option. This will bring you to a new page. In the search box provided by the Help Center, not at the one on the top of the page, type in the words “delete facebook”. It will bring you to the Help Center page and in the middle is the Facebook FAQs. There are a list of questions, pick the question “How do I permanently delete my account?” which will open the answer. On the second paragraph, there is a link that says “here”. When you click that link, it will bring you to a new page that says “Delete My Account”. Click ‘Submit’ and fill up the necessary data requested such as your password and e-mail plus type in the Security Check code. After 14 days of not accessing your Facebook account, it will be deleted.

You will still be able to restore your Facebook account to the way it was before you deleted it if you login within 14 days after you cancel your account membership.
