How to Sue a CompanyThere are many reasons why you may want to sue a company. Personal injury, defective products, and poor service are a few of the most common reasons. Where the case that can be filed will be based on the reason why you are suing. If it is for money, it can be filed in the small claims court without legal assistance. If it is for a defective product or poor service, it has to be filed in a higher court and you need a lawyer. Here are the steps on how to sue a company:

1. Gather your evidence. Note down all dates and details about your complaint. If you have papers like receipts, photos, medical records, the defective product, or other documentation that can be obtained like statements from witnesses, anything that is relevant to the case you plan to file, collect these as these so you have more evidence to submit.

Do your research and find out by using the Internet and other resources like public records to find out if the company ever had a case similar to the one you are about to file. Having information about the company you are suing will enable you to be better prepared.

3. File the paperwork. File the paperwork to the local courthouse. If the person filing the case is below 18, there has to be someone of legal age to represent them for the lawsuit. After filing, the local courthouse will be informing you of the next step to take.

How to Sue a CompanyThere will be a notice sent to the company you are suing and the one who will bring it will either be the Sheriff or a process server. You have the option to assign someone to bring the notice in your behalf.  One important thing to keep in mind is that the more solid your case is, the more chances you have in winning the lawsuit against the company that you sued.
